Matt Caseli Composer / Producer |
||
Signed to two of the biggest record labels in dance music, Axwell's massive Axtone Records imprint and top dutch label Spinnin Records! You can safely say Matt Caseli is on all the right roads to rocking the globe! He is the longest serving resident at one of the worlds top 5 venues Pacha Ibiza and when you consider his achievements over the last decade, it is hard to deny he's a DJ who's been in the right places, at the right parties! Having just marked his 15th year at the world renowned Pacha Ibiza, Matt can proudly stake claim to having played each and every one of those summers for some of the biggest and best club nights ever founded in club land from Subliminal, Def Mix, Ministry Of Sound, Release Yourself, Defected, Renaissance, David Guetta's F*** Me I'm Famous, and most recently world dominators The Swedish House Mafia!
Yet this longstanding association with Pacha has not kept him shackled to the brands flagship club on The White Isle, but instead has seen him flung to the skies with regular appearances at a number of their other legendary cherry baring venues across the globe. Whether it's rocking South America with sets at Pacha Buzios (Rio De Janiero) or Pacha Manuas (Amazon) to having the dancefloors of Pacha London and Pacha Switzerland gripped in a grooving spell, Matt Caseli's mark as a Pacha resident is one that is permanently etched into the memories of its clubbers every time he takes to the decks. No wonder then that they recently bestowed upon him a second residency that has seen him join the DJ team at the new ultra chic Pacha Moscow.
But his story doesn't start with Pacha. In fact his opening gambit in the scene came working under his real name Matt Orr, where working as a producer for London Records he wrote, produced and remixed rave legend Baby.D and the bands Top 40 UK chart anthem 'I Need Your Loving' and Gold selling album 'Deliverance'. Peaking at #3 in the UK singles chart, 'I Need Your Loving' was the early catalyst needed to launch Matt's career as a full time producer in the urban scene. What followed were several more hits in the underground scene before a bold decision saw him breakaway from Drum & Bass to pursue a sound closer to his own heart – house music.
So in 1996 he adopted the name Matt Caseli to mark a move away from the urban productions he had been previously associated with. The following summer he relocated to Ibiza and soon became the first ever resident for the now legendary beach club Bora Bora. His talent were soon recognized by Pacha, who invited him for a guest DJ appearance at the club. After several repeated bookings Matt was eventually signed as an official resident and ambassador for the club.
While his European summers are consumed rocking the dancefloor of the planets most celebrated club. His winters are spent headlining many of the world's most glamorous clubs and cities. With a club repertoire that reads from Las Vegas to San Francisco and Hong Kong to Shanghai, it's fair to say that Matt's music expands beyond just the duties of a resident dj – an art form within itself. With a flavoursome style that combines elements of tribal, tech, prog and big room vocals, it understandable to see how he's picked up a solid bed of fans in the varying musical climates of far reaching destinations as Malaysia, The Philippines, Indonesia and Australia. A bi-monthly resident of Barcelona's legendary venue Discoteque, Matt's diary has also led him to making appearances at mammoth festival favourites like Homelands and in more recent times Creamfields. Along his travels Matt frequently shares the bill with some of the biggest names in the game including Erick Morillo, Bob Sinclar, David Guetta, Frankie Knuckles, Roger Sanchez, to name only a handful.
Yet whilst his DJing achievements have soared, it's also worth noting that Matt has transferred the knowledge and wisdom he picked up from his days in the drum & bass scene and channelled this into a bubbling stream of house cuts that frequently provide the soundtrack to many of the scenes biggest artists and parties. Since 1997 Matt has had releases on some of the house scenes most respected imprints from Soulfuric to Peppermint Jam. Most notable successes on his back catalogue include 'Reginas Porn Track', 'Penthouse Bitch', 'Regina's Sax Experience' and more recently his hit record 'Getting High' - a collaboration project with Sebastian Krieg from Shik Stylko called Weekend Warriors. But it's in 2010 where the true fruits of his studio labour have paid off. After an early release on Cr2 with 'Long Legs Running', Matt and fellow studio partner Danny Freakazoid decided to hit Miami Winter Music Conference to fish around their next single. After causing a major stir at the 2010 WMC with numerous support plays, their follow up collaboration 'Sign Your Name' was snapped up by one third of the Swedish House Mafia, Axwell, for his stand out imprint Axtone Records. Reaching Number 1 on Beatport and smashing the globe led Matt to a second release 'Raise Your Hands' which was championed by SHM all summer long at Pacha and at every major festival.
So as far as credentials go, when you're good enough for the most famous club on the face of the earth and good enough for 1/3 of the Swedish House Mafia, then you must be doing something right!
